In addition, I have included sayings that can be used for other special people you want to remember including aunts, sisters, and grandmothers. "MOTHER is a word called LOVE
And all the world is mindful of
The love that's given and shown to others
Is different from THE LOVE OF MOTHERS...
For Mothers play the leading roles
In giving birth to little souls,
For though 'small souls' are heaven-sent
And we realise they're only lent,
It takes a Mother's loving hands
And her gentle heart that understands
To mould and shape this little life
And shelter it through storm and strife…
No other love than MOTHER LOVE
Could do the things required of
The one whom God gives the keeping
Of His wee lambs, awake or sleeping,
So Mothers are a 'special race'
God sent to earth to take His place,
And MOTHER is a lovely name
That even SAINTS are proud to claim."
- Helen Steiner Rice
A Mother's Hope ...
"Youth fades; love droops, the leaves of friendship fall; A mother's secret hope outlives them all." - Oliver Wendell Holmes
"When I was a child, my mother said to me, 'If you become a soldier, you'll be a general. If you become a monk you'll end up as the pope.' Instead I became a painter and wound up as Picasso."
-- Pablo Picasso
A Mother's Wisdom ...
"A mother understands what a child does not say." - Jewish Proverb
"The mother's heart is the child's schoolroom." -Henry Beecher
How to Personalize Someone Else's Words ...
We can't all put our feelings into words like Shakespeare or Browning. I think reading quotes give us those "ah ha" moments of "Yes, that's just what I want to say." When a quote captures your message, use it and add a personal touch. I love to do this by making my own cards. If you're limited by time or crafting ability, buy a pretty box of blank cards and print a quote typed on your computer, cut it out and insert it inside the card with double-sided tape. Going to that little bit of extra effort means so much and I think you'll find it saves you time and money, as opposed to making a trip to the store each time you need a birthday card.
A Mother's Guidance ...

"My mother was the most beautiful woman I ever saw. All I am I owe to my mother. I attribute all my success in life to the moral, intellectual and physical education I received from her." - George Washington, U.S. President
"All I am or can be I owe to my angel Mother." - Abraham Lincoln, U.S. President
"If at first you don't succeed, do it like your Mother told you."
To Mom from a Son ...
"A man loves his Sweetheart the most, his wife the best, but his Mother the longest." Irish Proverb
"Every man for the sake of the great blessed Mother in Heaven, and for the love of his own little mother on earth, should handle all womankind gently, and hold them in all Honour." - Alfred Lord Tennyson
